Team LNT Istanbul LMES build up

With the Team LNT transporter loaded and on the long journey to Istanbul, the Yorkshire based team are en route to their final race of 2005.

Team manager Rodney Farrell sets the picture for the team’s logistics prior to Istanbul. “The circuit is brand new this year. Yet having recently hosted DTM and F1, no-one really has experience of going there. The truck will be away for almost 3 weeks in total.

“Starting its journey from the workshop, its first crossing is from Dover to Calais, before travelling across Italy to Triestete for the truck to board a 56-hour ferry ride to Pendic – the Istanbul port. Chris [Medley] and Greg [Jones], our two truck drivers then fly out to the port. The 9 race team fly out today [Wed 9th]. We’ll then be returning morning of 14th.

Driver line up:

TVR number 81; Jonny Kane, Warren Hughes, Lawrence Tomlinson
TVR number 82; Marc Hynes, Patrick Pearce, Tom Kimber-Smith

New recruit Tom Kimber-Smith will take part in his first ever sports car event in Istanbul. Nothing like being thrown in at the deep end… Tom, although only 21 years old, has a huge amount of single seater experience - backing this up as a two time British champion in cars already. Tom is looking for a good result and a solid performance, gaining experience prior to his hopes of securing a full time drive for LNT and the Panoz Esperante in the 2006 British GT Championship.

Team LNT had opted some time ago to finish the LMES season with its race winning TVR’s. With the Panoz Esperante’s undergoing an intensive test and development programme back in the UK the race team bid for victory to back up the historic LNT/TVR one-two at the first round at of the LMES at Spa back in April.

It seems a long time ago since the distinctive purple and orange cars crossed the line first and second in a typically wet 6 hour Spa-Francorchamps event on April 17th.

Team boss Lawrence Tomlinson commented; “We have been very busy this year racing, developing relationships and securing programmes for the team in 2006. When you look at the season we have ahead of us it is a very exciting time and we are looking to end 2005 as we started it, on the top step of the podium”.

Results after the Istanbul race will be posted here at TeamLNT.com
