American President drives 1200 miles
to come to Team LNT’s assistance…
Whilst in the middle of a three-day test and development programme at the recent Sebring, Florida test, Team LNT found themselves in need of a new front suspension wishbone for the Esperante GTLM.
The dilemma of being 4000 miles from base in Sheffield and not having the correct part in stock with them at the track put the test programme under threat of delay. A quick call to Panoz in Atlanta was made to assess the possibility of a part coming from the factory and the reliability of the USA overnight postal service. LNT were assured the part would be with them overnight to enable testing to begin at 9am prompt.
Not once did the Sheffield team expect to see the Panoz Auto Developments President himself Dan Panoz along with boss John Leverett drive into Sebring and hand deliver the part!
“Now that is what we call service”, commented LNT’s Richard Dean. “Dan and John drove the 600+ from Atlanta in a new Esperante Coupe, turned up in time for us to fit the wishbone and not miss a single lap!
“The bonus was Lawrence and I got to drive the road car while the lads set to work fitting the wishbone. Dan and John watched some testing and drove the 600 miles back to Atlanta. I am not sure we could have counted on the same response from any other manufacturers but then again they did get the opportunity to get some real feedback on the road car at the same time as helping with our Sebring preparations”.
Team LNT race at the famous 12 hours of Sebring on March the 18th. For further information about the Sebring race please visit www.americanlemans.com
