Team LNT test at Pembrey
Day 2

The day started the same way as nearly every test that LNT have been to in Europe this year. Rain! The track was flooded and the visibility was limited. All drivers and engineers took to the track in their road cars to see just how bad the track was. As they approached the first corner, they could see a fire truck parked in the middle of turn one pumping a ‘lake’ dry which was forming at turn 1. Enough said!

Eventually the testing got underway with Lawrence Tomlinson taking to the track in the #82 car. Refreshed from his 4-week holiday and broken ribs just about back in place, Tomlinson was immediately on the pace and down to the times set on the previous day in the same conditions.

Tom Kimber-Smith was sent out in the #82 car to carry on with the development of the new Avon tyre that will be the control tyre in the British GT Championship this year. Also sharing the #82 car at this test was Luke Hines – Team LNT’s latest signing who will also partner Kimber-Smith in this years British GT championship. This would be the first time Luke would use the Avon tyres, so it was important for him to get some laps in and gain some experience of the Panoz.

After lunch Kimber-Smith and Hines worked closely with the engineers of the team as well as the Avon engineers making some great steps forward with wet set up.

In the #81 car Richard Dean and Rob Bell joined Tomlinson on the Pirelli’s in the afternoon. Bell had just flown in from Mexico the previous day having taken part in the American Grand Am race. So with both Team LNT’s Panoz having completed test day number 20, the crew turn straight round to jet off for the first race of the season in Florida - the 54th running of the Sebring 12 hours.
