Le Mans 24 hours
Mid-way review
The skies are beginning to get lighter over Le Mans as 5am marks the mid-race point.
Team LNT’s Panoz is running consistently in fifth place having run for twelve hours. Apart from a suspension problem – that was promptly fixed – the car is well-balanced and running well. Touch wood.
Several GT2 cars have retired from the race. Namely the Multimatics Panoz that ran out of fuel and a Spyker retiring with a water leak. The distinctive orange car of Team LNT’s was enjoying a battle with the #90 White Lightning Racing Porsche but as Kimber-Smith edged towards the end of his latest stint at 4.30am, the Porsche had spent 4 laps in the gravel having spun – marking the end of its race.
Dean is currently at the wheel in 5th place lapping 15 seconds faster than fourth place and closing the gap.
The top 6 GT2 positions at 12 hours are: 1st #83 (166 laps), 2nd #86 (165 laps), 3rd #87 (163 laps), 4th #93 (160 laps), 5th #81 Team LNT Panoz 1.17.383 behind and running 23rd overall. 6th #91 (151 laps)
