Team LNT: An update
For those wondering what’s been happening with Team LNT since running the Zytek at Silverstone, here is an update going into 2008.
As you may know, sister company Ginetta Cars launched a new-for-2008 sportscar, the Ginetta G50 in honour of Ginetta Cars’ 50th anniversary.
The Team’s focus has been developing the G50 prototype car and into production ready for 26 cars and the launch of a new single-make Championship. Plus, six further Ginetta G50 cars entered into the British GT Championship running in the GT4 category (right).
Races in Nogaro and Magny Cours by Lawrence Tomlinson, Tom Kimber-Smith and former Ginetta Champion Stewart Linn took Team LNT crew out for the G50s maiden voyages.
Referring to Team LNT’s Le Mans success with the Panoz Esperantes, Tomlinson explained to DailySportscar.com that “We had a window of opportunity to win the race in 2006, when the Ferrari 430 was still new, and the new Porsche hadn’t arrived.”
But a lack of true competitiveness in 2007 – “We could still have finished second this year” – means that the Panoz Esperates will be “taking a sabbatical” in 2008, pending the required upgrades to make them competitive GT2 cars again.
“We’d love to compete with a Ginetta at Le Mans,” said the Chairman. “The G50 was designed to cope with 200-300 more bhp than it currently has.”
