Friday, and Saturday Warm-Up
Another Mini-bus full of Team LNT crew arrived last night from Leeds, England. With three crews servicing two cars, at leased there is an opportunity for every crew member to have some time off and rest.
This Le Mans race is a true test of strength on both man and machine, so at leased some rest will reduce any mishaps in pitstops caused by fatigue! (hopefully!)
A further team of bodies over in the bus hospitality area are continuously busying away providing cooked meals and drinks to crew and guests which is no mean feat in itself! (On a sidenote, if you’re on facebook.com - you can join the fan club page “We love the Bus”!)
A busy day with an open pit lane yesterday, the cars were cleaned and prepared some more, and the traditional Drivers Parade took part in Le Mans Centre.
An estimated 100,000 people turned up to get sight of some of the worlds best racing drivers as they ride through the town on the back of a vintage vehicle.
Today (Saturday) the ‘serious stuff’ starts.
Warm-up this morning was wet (again) although brightening up. Both Team LNT cars were out on wet tyres with Tom Kimber-Smith and Tom Milner both taking a run in their #81 car, whilst only Richard Dean took to the track in the #82 Panoz.
Kimber-Smith and Milner were happy and third fastest (4:40.983) but Dean was nervous about a sound coming from the rear of the car which - on closer inspection after the session - appear to be from a loose air duct.
The crowds are gathering in the grandstands now to claim their place for the big race at 3pm today. From 13:00hrs the cars will be on the grid for all to see with the drivers doing one more parade down the pit straight - this time on road supercars, and the starting ceremony begins at 14:22hrs. |
