This is your chance to experience what it is like for a real race team during a pit stop. This will test not only your skills but your ability to work as a team where success or failure depends on your ability to work and gel together.
You will be split into groups of between 15 and 18 people, everybody will be allocated roles within the pit crew from Refuellers to wheel changers and briefed and trained on timing, safety and the implications of your role on others in the group.
You will then be put into a live pit stop situation. Your team will be waiting for the car to arrive in the marked pit box, and then the stop watch starts.
When the car arrives the Refuellers (Refueller and Vent person) will attach to the car for 30 seconds, whilst this is going on the driver will get out of the car and the new driver will get in with the help of the driver changer. Once the refuelling is done the wheel changing will take place with one person operating the wheel gun, one removing and one refitting the wheel and then the gun person to secure and signal his role is done. During the wheel changing there will also be people cleaning the windscreen and radiators. All this should happen in around 60 seconds for you to compete with the professionals.
Each individual and team will be awarded points for the speed and team work.
