The Ginetta Junior Championship, the UK's highest profile Junior racing series, today announces a major new prize for the 2010 title victor, which will give this season's winner a money-cant-buy test in Eurotech Racing's brand new Vauxhall Vectra.
The Vectra, which will feature in the Dunlop MSA BTCC line up, will be driven by hotshot racing talent Andrew Jordan, who will get back behind the wheel for a single car assault on the 2010 title-ship. The car will be run by the Jordan-owned Eurotech Racing, on behalf of Pirtek as the Tamworth based squad makes a welcome return to the track. In addition to the exhilarating test drive, the 2010 Ginetta Junior champion will also get a day of one-to-one tuition with 20 year old Andrew Jordan, who last year, became the youngest driver ever to take pole in a BTCC race.
Mike Jordan Eurotech team principal, who has over 30 years of racing experience said of the new prize initiative: "I have always been a long-time supporter of Ginetta's championships - Andrew had a G20 when he was 15, before the days of the Ginetta Junior Championship and has gone on to major success with BTCC. I feel confident that with the right ingredients, we can help another young driving star achieve their racing ambitions. Andrew is incredibly excited about mentoring the new champion in the Vauxhall Vectra which was unveiled at Autosport International last month and I'm delighted to be cementing our incredibly strong relationship with Lawrence and the Ginetta team."
Meanwhile Lawrence Tomlinson, Ginetta Chairman said: "The chance to test a BTCC car is a phenomenal prize and we're proud to be able to offer this in association with Andrew, Mike and Pirtek Racing. The combination of the Jordan's sheer racing experience coupled with Pirtek's new high powered Vectra, means that this is a huge incentive for all Ginetta Junior competitors to go all out for the championship."
Ginetta Championship Coordinator Stewart Linn commented: "This is a once in a life time prize and cements the fact that the Ginetta Junior championship is a genuine stepping stone for young drivers with visions of racing in sports cars or touring cars. Being a driver myself, I'm chuffed to bits to be able to offer this opportunity to the 2010 champion...and maybe a little bit jealous!"
This year's Ginetta Junior Championship is set to be the most exciting yet - not only will drivers get to take to the track in the all-new Ginetta G40 car but competitors will benefit from greater TV exposure than ever before. ITV has recently announced increased television coverage for the entire Dunlop MSA BTCC series - which is now likely to surpass 120 hours in 2010. ITV 4 will dedicate some 65 hours to all ten rounds live on Sunday afternoons.
